Official : Acfer 360
Date of find :
November 17, 2002
Total mass :
68 g
# of fragments :
1 single fragment
Place : Acfer (Algeria)
Classification :
ENS Lyon
Meteoritical Bulletin n°
89 (September 2005)
Type :
MONOMICT UREILITE
Weathering grade :
W1
%Fa :
17.21% (range 5.8-25.0%)
%Fs :
16.5% (range 7.0-18.8%)
Remarks (ENS) : Monomict rock with a coarse-grained (mm) equilibrated texture typical of ureilites, triple junctions and curved intergranular boundaries are observed. The primary mineral composition is olivine (Fo83) 90 %, pigeonite (En75Wo8) 8% and interstitial carbonaceous material 2%. Olivine often contains metal inclusions and pigeonite sometimes includes rounded olivine grains. Metal rims are present along silicate grains. Flakes of dark carbonaceous material consist on diamonds as a small grains within graphite as revealed by Raman spectroscopy. Weathering grade appears to be minor.
