NWA 5611 - EUCRITE

Found in 2008 - Sahara

A single stone weighing 355g was purchased in Erfoud, Morocco in December 2008. Partially fusion crusted, it contains oxidyzed metalic grains that attratct a magnet. This plus the general structure visible on slices & endcuts give a first clue for a possible polymict eucrite.

According to the seller, the meteorite was found in the Sahara Desert the same year. So far there is no specific information about the exact location of the find.
It was cut into slices, partslices & endcuts. Type specimen was sent to Dr Barrat for the classification.

Slices, partslices and endcuts are offered here to institutions & collectors, while type specimen has been sent to Dr Barrat for analysis and classification.
