NWA 5612 - HOWARDITE

Found in 2008 - Sahara

A single stone weighing 68.3g was purchased in Erfoud, Morocco in December 2008. Partially fusion crusted, it is a fresh HOWARDITE containing big cristals that are visible on the broken side. You can note the typical shiny fusion crust of HEDs.

According to the seller, the meteorite was found in the Sahara Desert the same year. So far there is no specific information about the exact location of the find.
It was cut into 2 pieces: one endcut ins the main mass weiging 53.1g and the other one is the type specimen that was sent to Dr Barrat for analysis & classification.

The remaining 53.1g MAIN MASS is offered to collectors & institutions. This is & will remain the ONLY PIECE AVAILABLE.
